Newly elected Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Professor Dr Kumar Ingnam has assumed his office at Singha Durbar on Friday.
Secretary Madan Bhujel among other high-ranking officials at the ministry welcomed Minister Ingnam.
Talking to journalists after assuming his office, Minister Ingnam said he would bring policies to utilize barren and uncultivated lands during his tenure by facilitating farmers and marketing their produce.

"Nepal has fertile land. A lot of Nepali people are dependent on agriculture. However, a recent trend of uncultivated land poses a challenge. I will try to address this issue by introducing policies to utilize uncultivated land and boost agricultural productions through targeted support for farmers, including facilitation and market access for their produce," said Minister Ingnam.
Professor Dr Ingnam was the Campus Chief at Kathmandu School of Law in Bhaktapur until recently.
Specialized at International Trade and Arbitration, Fiscal crimes, White Collar Crime and Interpretation, Professor Ingnam has also authored three books to his credit, including 'An Introduction to World Trade Organization'.
