CPN (UML) Senior Vice Chairman Ishwar Pokharel, who is vying for the post of Chairman, has expressed his disagreement over the 108 list of nominated representatives for the party's 11th General Convention.
Although the Secretariat meeting held on Friday had agreed that Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Senior Vice Chairman Pokharel would sit together to finalize the 108 representatives, the Pokharel group has expressed disagreement, stating that the current list was not prepared as per the understanding.
Expressing disagreement over the list of representatives, Pokharel stated that the list was published unilaterally, contrary to that agreement.
UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai also said that the list released today was not acceptable. "A list that could be agreed upon has not come out," he told Nepakhabar. "It seems the same list that the Chairman presented yesterday has been released."
Leaders from the Pokharel faction claim that since both Oli and Pokharel had presented separate lists from their respective groups during yesterday's meeting, the decision was made to find a consensus between those two lists today.
UML has made public the list of 108 representatives including National Assembly member Anjan Shakya and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol nominated for its 11th General Convention.
Previously, a disagreement arose at the UML Secretariat meeting held on Friday regarding the nomination of 108 General Convention representatives. Consequently, the responsibility to finalize the matter was given to Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Senior Vice Chairman Ishwar Pokharel.
Following this, the UML publicly released the list of 108 nominated representatives on Saturday, just before the inauguration of the General Convention.
