Inquiry Commission's tenure extended for one month

The term of the High Level Inquiry Commission formed to investigate the incidents that occurred during the Gen Z uprising has been extended by a month.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers convened on Thursday extended the tenure of the Commission by a month, Minister for Communications and Information Jagdish Kharel, who is also the spokesperson, said.

The tenure of the Commission led by former Judge Gauri Bahadur Karki was expiring on December 24.

As many as 76 individuals had lost their lives during the Gen Z uprising that took place on September 8 and 9.

The two-day Gen Z uprising toppled the KP Sharma Oli-led governmet and an interim government was formed under the premiership of former Chief Justice Sushila Karki with the mandate to hold elections March 5.
