CPN (UML) has pledged support to Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Krishna Prasad Yadav, in the trust vote.
Yadav, who became the Chief Minister with the backing of seven fringe parties excluding UML, is taking the vote of confidence today.
Chief Minister Yadav is scheduled to take the trust vote at 4 pm today, Minister for Energy and Water of the province government, Jawaharlal Kushwaha, said.
According to UML Province Assembly Member Sharada Thapa, UML will also give the vote of confidence to Yadav.
"We will also give the vote of confidence to Thapa," MP Thapa told Nepalkhabar, "Our parliamentary party has decided to provide the vote of confidence to him."
Saroj Yadav, who had been elected as the Chief Minister of Madhesh Province from UML, was forced to step down within 24 hours after he failed to garner majority in the Province Assembly. Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Yadav was elected the Chief Minister following his resignation.
Krishna Prasad had become the Chief Minister with the support of 77 lawmakers on December 5. If UML supports him, he will garner the support of 104 lawmakers. UML has 24 lawmakers. In the 107-member Madhesh Province Assembly, support of 54 lawmakers is necessary to secure the confidence vote.
According to the Constitution, the leader who becomes the Chief Minister with the support of two or more than two parties has to take the vote of confidence within 30 days.
