An additional 60 former Members of Parliament (MPs) have filed an application at the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the House of Representatives. On Tuesday, 57 MPs from Nepali Congress and three others filed the petition requesting to be included as defendants in the writ previously filed on the matter.
They have requested to be established defendants to the case under Rule 47 (2) of the Supreme Court Rules 2074, joining the writ petition filed earlier by Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire and others. Ghimire, along with eight other MPs, had filed the writ on December 9.
The Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court conducted a preliminary hearing on the writ on December 17, issuing a 15-day deadline to submit a written response.
