Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), led by Rajendra Lingden, and RPP Nepal, led by Kamal Thapa have agreed to merge.
The two parties signed the merger agreement a while ago. Lingden will remain the chairman, while Thapa will be accorded the status of former chairman, according to the agreement.
"We are returning to the exact state the party was before Kamal Thapa split from it," an RPP leader told Nepalkhabar. "Responsibilities will be assigned accordingly."

According to the agreement, Thapa will assume the role of a former chairman within the party's statute.
The two leaders have also agreed that the unified party will retain the name, flag, and election symbol of RPP. The official merger announcement is scheduled for December 31.
Kamal Thapa had announced his departure from RPP on February 8, 2022 after he was defeated by Lingden for the chairmanship during the party's general convention in December, 2021.
Thapa had demanded an investigation, alleging that he lost the chairmanship race due to interference from Nirmal Niwas.
However, after Lingden refused to address the demand, Thapa announced his departure from the party.
