Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has stated that Nepal shares border disputes with China in a limited number of areas. Answering lawmakers' questions in parliament on Thursday, Minister Khanal clarified that while the northern border sees relatively low activity, disputes do exist. "There are border disputes with China in a few limited places; it is not that there are no disputes at all," Minister Khanal stated.
Turning to the southern border, the Foreign Minister shared that bilateral discussions with India are actively underway regarding the reconstruction of border pillars and addressing cross-holding occupation issues. He noted that these joint processes, which had been stalled for a long time, have finally been reactivated.
According to Minister Khanal, technical teams from both Nepal and India are currently deployed on-site at the border zones. He assured parliament that the technicians are actively carrying the field work forward to resolve the long-standing boundary issues.
