Newly appointed Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday had a phone conversation on relations between the two nations, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
According to a statement released on its official website, the ministry said Qin bid farewell to Blinken and recalled his frank, in-depth and constructive meetings with Blinken during his tenure as Chinese ambassador to the US.
Qin told Blinken that he looked forward to maintaining a close working relationship with the US secretary of state and promoting the improvement of China-US relations.
The two sides also exchanged New Year's greetings during the call, the statement read. (CGTN)
