The operator of Waldo Casino, located in Thamel, Kathmandu, has been arrested following a sophisticated gambling fraud investigation.
The scam allegedly involved an Indian group using magnetized playing cards and specialized contact lenses designed to read marked cards from the outside.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Police Range, confirmed the arrest of Chinese national Chan Min Ching, the casino's operator. Police are making preparations to present him in court today to extend his remand for further investigation.
This arrest follows the prior detention of six other individuals in connection with the same crime. They include four Indian nationals, Suresh Mahajan, Dinesh Verma, Vikram Singh, and Pramod Maurya.
The other arrested are two Nepali employees Chija Khadka and Bhawadi Pandey, both of whom worked at the casino.
