Nepali Congress has finalized the list of proportional representation (PR) candidates.
According to an NC leader, the list will be submitted to the Election Commission after the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting held this morning approved the list.
NC had given the responsibility of preparing the list of PR candidates to seven leaders from seven provinces.
Gyanendra Bahadur Karki from Koshi Province, Mahendra Yadav from Madhesh, Prakash Sharan Mahata from Bagmati, Surendra Pandey from Gandaki, Bal Krishna Khand from Lumbini, Jeevan Shahi from Karnali and NP Saud from Sudurpaschim were given the responsibility of preparing the list of proportional candidates.
They have already submitted the list they prepared to President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
The Election Commission has given the parties today's deadline to submit the list of PR candidates for the upcoming election of members of the House of Representatives announced for March 5.
There is a constitutional provision for 110 members to be elected through the PR system in the House of Representatives.
In the 2022 elections, Nepali Congress had won 32 seats through the PR system. Similarly, 34 seats were won by UML, 14 by Maoist Center, 8 by RSP and 7 by the RPP.
