This year's monsoon system has made its way into Nepal six days later than usual, and it's now spreading across the eastern and central regions of the country.

According to the latest monsoon bulletin from the Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon that first entered Nepal through Koshi province last Friday has now expanded to four additional provinces.

The department reports that the monsoon has now covered the entire Koshi area, Madhesh, Bagmati, parts of Gandaki province, and the eastern section of Lumbini province. However, meteorologist Sanjeev Adhikari notes that the monsoon system is still relatively weak, so it may take a few more days to reach the rest of the country.

Typically, the monsoon arrives in Nepal around June 13, but this year it was delayed by six days, according to the department. With the monsoon's influence now extending, rain has begun to fall in various locations across eastern and central Nepal. The division is keeping a close eye on the situation and has urged the public to stay updated with the latest weather information and bulletins over the next three days, taking necessary precautions.

The department has also predicted that rainfall during this monsoon season will be below average, with temperatures expected to rise. Meteorologist Sudarshan Humagai mentioned that most areas of the country might experience less rain than usual this monsoon. Specifically, the southern part of Karnali province, much of Lumbini province, the eastern section of Madhesh province, and the southern part of Koshi province are expected to see below-average rainfall this year.
