An elderly couple has been found murdered in cold blood in Chishankhugadhi Rural Municipality of Okhaldhunga district.
The victims, identified as 60-year-old Shobhitman Thapa Magar and his wife, Ratnamaya Thapa Magar, were residents of Bhadaure-6. According to the District Police Office, Okhaldhunga, the incident occurred late Tuesday night.
Discovery of the crime
The double homicide came to light on Wednesday morning when neighbors grew concerned after the couple failed to appear outside for their usual morning routines. After receiving no response to repeated calls, neighbors entered the house and discovered the lifeless bodies of the husband and wife.
A police team led by Inspector Bikram Bahadur Bhattarai reached the crime scene immediately after the report. Preliminary findings suggest that the couple was attacked and killed using sharp-edged weapons.
"The couple lived alone in the house as their children are currently residing elsewhere," Inspector Bhattarai told local media.
Deployment of sniffer dogs
To ensure a thorough forensic investigation, authorities requested assistance from the Kosi Province Police Office's Canine Branch in Dharan.
Inspector Bhattarai confirmed that the bodies have been kept at the crime scene to preserve evidence until the canine unit completes its specialized search.
Search for suspects
While no arrests have been made yet, police have placed several "suspicious individuals" under surveillance. The motive behind the killings remains unknown.
This incident has sparked renewed anxiety in the district. Only a few months ago, 52-year-old Ratna Kumari Katuwal Karki was found murdered in her home in Siddhicharan Municipality-4.
