Foreign Minister Sharma in Dhaka to pay last respect to ex-Bangladeshi PM Khaleda Zia

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Bala Nanda Sharma, is in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, to attend the state funeral of former Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Begum Khaleda Zia.

Accompanied by senior officials of the Foreign Ministry, Minister Sharma left for Dhaka on Tuesday night.

Minister Sharma was received at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Nepal’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, and Foreign Secretary M. Farhadul Islam.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Minister’s visit reflects Nepal’s deep respect for the late leader’s contributions to strengthening Nepal–Bangladesh relations during her three tenures as Prime Minister.

Minister Sharma is scheduled to return home on 1 January 1, 2026.
