Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said that no one has thought about the party split.

Talking to media persons before the Central Work Execution Committee (CWEC) meeting on Friday, Sharma said that the current dispute over the general convention will be resolved. “We will solve the issue of the general convention amicably,” Sharma said.

Congress General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma had issued a joint statement on Thursday announcing the postponement of the regular general convention. The establishment leaders are accusing them of trying to lead NC toward division.

When asked about this, General Secretary Sharma said, “Nepali Congress has a responsibility to bring the entire society together. At such a time, the idea of Nepali Congress splitting is completely out of the question, no one has even thought about it.”

He said that the issue of a special general convention came up because the regular general convention schedule could not proceed. He said that the CWEC meeting would decide on this issue.
