A Buddha Air aircraft has skidded off the runway while landing at Bharatpur Airport on Friday evening.
The Buddha Air aircraft ATR 72 with the Call Sign 9N-AMF carrying passengers from Kathmandu skidded off the runway while landing at Bhadrapur Airport this evening.
"The aircraft skidded off 200 meters off the runway and came to a halt in a small stream east of the airport. We are rescuing the passengers. No human casualties have taken place. The aircraft has also not sustained significant damage," Jhapa District Police Chief SP Rajan Limbu said.
According to Limbu, the aircraft had landed at 9 pm. There were 51 passengers onboard the aircraft.
The accident occurred after the nose cone of the aircraft plowed into the soil. All the passengers including the crew members are safe, the police said.
A joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force is carrying out the rescue work.
