Gagan Thapa, General Secretary of Nepali Congress, has stated that the treatment of leader Bimalendra Nidhi outside the central party office was wrong. Taking to social media, General Secretary Thapa remarked that the harassment of Nidhi simply for holding a differing opinion is reprehensible.

"The behavior directed toward respected leader Bimalendra Nidhi outside the party office today is wrong," Thapa said. "My stance on this matter is identical to the one expressed by General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma. A true democrat believes in the diversity of truth and respects dissenting views. Therefore, if this incident occurred because of a difference in opinion, it is even more deplorable."

General Secretary Thapa also urged all well-wishers of Nepali Congress to understand that the leadership seeks change through established rules and procedures. "We all want change, but there is no path forward outside of our statutes, bylaws, and processes. Let us trust the process; we are all in this together," he added.

General Secretary Sharma had also previously stated that the behavior Nidhi faced upon arriving at the office was entirely wrong and emphasized that such tendencies must be discouraged.

Both General Secretaries --Thapa and Sharma -- viewed the incident as an attack on democratic values. Thapa emphasized that "true democrats" must respect those with different views.

He reminded supporters that change must happen within the framework of the party's constitution and legal procedures.
