To combat the harsh winter facing students in remote Nepal, the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD) has launched the "Panda Pack Project" in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality. The initiative aims to improve learning conditions and health for children from marginalized communities.
Project supports 29 schools
The project covers all 29 schools across wards 1 to 5 of the municipality. Students from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Grade 5 are receiving warm clothes packages, which include a tracksuit set, gloves and socks and a muffler and a cap.

A formal distribution ceremony was held at Shree Marming Secondary School, attended by CFRD Country Director Ms Zou Zhiqiang and Mr Mukti Marasini, Chairperson of the implementing partner, Global Cooperation for Development (GCD).
Ms Zou emphasized that the project reflects CFRD’s long-term commitment to educational equity in Nepal’s cold regions. Mr. Marasini noted that the successful distribution was the result of intense coordination between the municipality, local schools, and dedicated staff.

Community impact
Bhotekoshi Education Department Chief, Mr Binesh Kumar Shrestha, expressed deep gratitude, noting that most beneficiaries come from families struggling to meet basic needs.
"In such a geographically remote area, this support is vital," Shrestha stated. School principals and parents reported that the initiative has not only provided physical warmth but has also boosted the students' morale and school attendance.
