Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen), a candidate for the upcoming House of Representatives on behalf of Rastriya Swatantra Party, has intensified preparations for the same scheduled for March 5.
Shah is poised to challenge CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in his home constituency, Jhapa-5.
To manage the high-stakes campaign, RSP has established a sophisticated "three-layer" secretariat system in Damak. Located in a dedicated building, this building houses a 15-member team of content creators and IT experts to manage Shah’s massive social media campaign.
This serves as Shah’s personal residence and the center for high-level political meetings and rapid strategic decision-making.
Staffed by RSP leaders, this office focuses on grassroots mobilization and implementing data-driven voter surveys categorized by age, gender, and profession.
RSP Jhapa President Prakash Pathak confirmed that the main secretariat is based at the residence of Lucky Sitaula in Damak, with additional offices near the Area Police Office and Campus Mode. The campaign is led by Regional Coordinator Bhesh Raj Bhattarai, supported by specialized sub-committees for finance and youth mobilization.
The party has also formed a "Rapid Action Team" (RAT) to manage field operations. For the nomination filing on January 20, RSP plans a massive show of strength. Rather than traditional political speeches, the event will highlight cultural diversity, featuring traditional dances from the Dhimal, Rai, Limbu, and Santhal communities.
With an expected surge of "Gen Z" supporters and youth from across the country, local authorities are on high alert. Chief District Officer Shivaram Gelal has called an all-party meeting today to maintain law and order as the poll day inches closer.
