In a significant move toward party internal consolidation, Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa and Vice President Bishwa Prakash Sharma are scheduled to meet with former President Sher Bahadur Deuba today (Monday).
The meeting follows an agreement in principle reached Sunday night where party factions reportedly pledged to move forward with a unified front for the upcoming elections.
While a specific time has not been finalized, party officials have confirmed the meeting will take place today.
"President Gagan Thapa and Vice President Bishwa Prakash Sharma will meet former President Sher Bahadur Deuba today," a party official told Nepalkhabar. This sentiment was echoed by leader Ramesh Lekhak, who noted the high likelihood of the meeting occurring this afternoon.
The atmosphere at the Deuba residence is already active, as discussions are currently ongoing between Deuba and leaders from the Dr Shekhar Koirala faction.
This series of dialogues signals a concerted effort by Nepali Congress leadership to bridge internal divides and take part in the March 5 elections in a unified manner.
