Chief Secretary of Nepali Congress Central Party Office, Krishna Prasad Paudel, has tendered his resignation on Thursday.

With Gagan Thapa all set to reach Sanepa on Friday to officially take charge of the central party office, Paudel tendered his resignation.

Former President Sher Bahadur Deuba had appointed Krishna Prasad Paudel as the Chief Secretary of the party. Tendering his resignation, Paudel said he resigned from his post to pave the path for newly elected President Gagan Thapa to smoothly carry out his duties in his own ways.

Thapa, who was elected as the President of Nepali Congress through the Special General Convention on January 11-14, is making preparations to appoint Dulal as the Chief Secretary, sources have said.

According to a leader, Thapa had given him words to appoint him as the Chief Secretary upon his election as the party President.

When the then Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Loktantrik) led by Bijay Kumar Gachhadar merged into Nepali Congress in 2074 BS, Dulal had been appointed as the party secretary.

Secretary Dulal had openly advocated in favor of the Special General Convention of the party.
