ICC T20 World Cup Warm-up: Nepal clinches 6-wicket win against Canada

Nepal has defeated Canada by 6 wickets in a warm-up match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup held in Chennai on Thursday.

Chasing the 162-run target set by Canada, Nepal reached it in 18 overs losing 4 wickets.

To reach the target Aasif Sheikh topped the score with 58 runs including 6 fours and 1 six off 29 balls followed by Sundeep Jora with 44 runs while Gulsan Jha and Kushal Bhurtel contributed 31 and 12 runs, respectively.

On the bowling side, Jaskaran Singh, Saad Bin Zafar and Ajayveer Hundai grabbed 1 wicket each for Canada.

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk on Thursday, Canada notched up 161 runs losing 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Navneet Dhaliwal topped the score with 41 runs followed by Shreyas Movva with 38 runs while Jaskaran Singh and Nicholas Kirton contributed 21 and 10 runs, respectively.

In reply, Sandeep Lamichhane and Kushal Bhurtel took wickets each while Sompal Kami and Nandan Yadav grabbed 1 wicket each for Nepal.

In the previous warm-up match held for World Cup preparation, Nepal has already defeated UAE.

Now, the Nepali team will head to Mumbai for the World Cup. Nepal will begin its World Cup journey playing against England in three days. All matches featuring Nepal will take place in Mumbai.
