A minor girl has died after being hit by a vehicle used by the candidate of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Rautahat Constituency 2.
The deceased has been identified as Alfa Khatun, the four-year-old daughter of Mohammad Sagir of Ishnath Municipality-2, Matiya Tole.
According to DSP Bishnu Pradeep Basyal, minor girl Khatun sustained critical injuries when the vehicle, Ba 15 Cha 4244, struck the girl while she was playing on the road side.
Critically injured Khatun who was rushed to Gaur-based hospital breathed her last in the course of treatment.
The police have taken the vehicle under control while the driver is at large. DSP Basyal said they have launched a manhunt for the absconding driver.
Even though police said they could did not find any flags or pamphlets in the vehicle, the local claimed that the vehicle belonged to an RSP'S candidate. RSP has fielded Sheikh Sagir an election candidate in this constituency. The tension has flared up in the area following the incident.
