India clinches title of SAFF U-19 Women's Championship

India has won the title of the Under-19 SAFF Women's Championship football tournament being held in Pokhara.

India became the tournament champions by defeating the defending champions Bangladesh with a wide margin of 4–0 in the final match held today at the International Football Stadium in Pokhara.

India scored one goal in the first half of the game and managed to score three more in the second half. Captain, Julian Nongmethem, took the lead by scoring a goal in the 42nd minute. Elizabeth Larka scored in the 63rd minute.

India was awarded a penalty in the 68th minute of the game after Bangladesh's goalkeeper Begum fouled an opposing player in the penalty area. Pearl Fernandez scored the goal from the penalty. Similarly, after Anvita Raghuraman scored in the 83rd minute, India succeeded in securing a comfortable win.

The title of the 'Best Player' and 'Top Scorer' of the tournament has been awarded to Alpee Akter of Bangladesh. Munni of India was awarded the 'Best Goalkeeper' while the Fair Play Award has been awarded to India.

The Championship, which started on January 31, saw the participation of four teams including Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Bhutan.
