Ramechhap bus mishap death toll reaches six, five injured

The death toll from Ramechhap bus accident has reached six after two more bodies were found in the accident site. Five people have been injured.

The ill-fated bus, Province 3-01-005 Kha 9975, heading to Okhaldhunga from Kathmandu, skidded off the road at Tribenighat in Manthali Municipality-6, Ramechhap, and fell into the Tamakoshi River, the police said.

According to DSP Shailendra Thapa, the joint spokesman of the Armed Police Force, six people died on the spot and five others sustained injuries in the accident that occurred at 11 am today. The bus has submerged into the river.

Two men and four women are among those killed in the accident. The identified of the deceased are yet to be established. The five injured have been sent to the Kurkot hospital after rescue, said DSP Thapa.

A rescue team from Armed Police Force Company, Ramechhap, divers from the Disaster Management, Basecamp, Khurkot and Nepal Police, has been deployed to the accident site for rescue.

It is not yet clear how many passengers were traveling in the bus. The rescue efforts are underway, said DSP Thapa.
