The Nepal–US Alumni Network (NUSAN) has been named the primary implementation partner for "Freedom 250," a major year-long campaign launched by the US Embassy in Nepal to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The campaign was officially inaugurated by Chargé d’Affaires Scott Urbom during a recent meeting with NUSAN members at the American Center. The initiative will roll out across all seven American Spaces located throughout Nepal, serving as a hub for cultural and educational exchanges.
As the lead organizer in Nepal, NUSAN will coordinate a diverse series of thematic programs designed to highlight the evolution of democratic ideals. The partnership aims to bridge the history of the United States with the contemporary aspirations of the Nepali public.
The Freedom 250 campaign is built on three key pillars: honoring pivotal moments in America’s 250-year history, showcasing the global impact of American ingenuity, and engaging youth and alumni in meaningful dialogues about shared democratic principles.
"Stay tuned and join us as we celebrate the past, engage the present, and look toward our shared future," the Embassy stated, signaling a robust schedule of upcoming events.
By leveraging the extensive network of NUSAN—which comprises Nepalis who have participated in US government-sponsored exchange programs—the campaign seeks to foster deeper people-to-people ties between the two nations through grassroots engagement at American Spaces in cities across the country.
