Iran's state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) said the death toll from an airstrike on a girls' school on Saturday has risen to 53.
The agency cited a spokesman for the country's education ministry as saying.
The agency had earlier reported an attack on a girls' primary school in Minab County in Iran's southern Hormozgan Province.
An education ministry spokesman told the agency that "three missiles" had hit the school on Saturday. He said 63 people were also injured in the attack.
He said debris from the school was being removed to search for possible victims.
Israel, in collaboration with the US, carried out a series of airstrikes on 10 cities in Iran, including the capital Tehran, on Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the country's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was safe.
He told NBC News, “As far as I know, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is alive.”
He said Iran “maybe lost one or two commanders” in the Israeli-American attack.
Iranian state media has so far denied reports that senior Iranian political officials and military chiefs were killed.
However, Reuters, citing sources, claimed that Iranian Defense Minister Amir Nasirzadeh and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Mohammad Pakpour were killed in the attack.
