A candidate of Janata Samajwbadi Party Nepal (JSP-N) has been arrested with cash from Siraha.
JSP-N candidate Asheshwar Yadav from Siraha Constituency 3 was arrested with cash last night, informed Senior Superintendent of Police and Spokesperson of Madhesh Province Police Office Kamal Thapa.
Yadav was arrested with cash during the silence period.
He was arrested with a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number 2-02-001 Cha 087 near the Siraha district headquarters at 12:30 last night, Thapa informed.
Rs 487,000 in cash was found in his vehicle. The police have recovered the amount and taken five people, including Yadav, into custody, according to the police.
The police have not made the names of the other arrested people public. All those taken into custody have been kept at the District Police Office.
Police have said that preparations are underway to send them to the Chief Electoral Officer's Office for further action.
