Nepali Congress candidate Santosh Subba has been elected from Tehrathum to the House of Representatives.
According to the Election Commission, NC's Subba was elected by securing 11,561 votes. His rival, Bhanubhakta Dhakal of CPN-UML, received 10,682 votes.
Surendra Karki of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who came in third, obtained 7,737 votes. Similarly, Subindra Kumar Limbu of Shram Sanskriti Party got 5,200 votes while CPN's Randhwaj Limbu received 919 votes, informed Chief Election Officer Dil Kumar Bardewa.
Following his election as the HoR member, Subba expressed his gratitude to the voters and vowed to work by prioritizing the development of the district including employment creation, education and infrastructure development.
"I will for the overall development of the district and as per the expectations of the people, respecting the mandate given by the voters of Tehrathum," said Subba.
Who is Santosh Subba?
Subba, 48, is a permanent resident of Myanglung Municipality. Having started his political career from Nepal Student Union, Subba has been playing an active role in the expansion of the Nepali Congress organization and party activities for a long time. He had also held the position of secretary in the Nepali Congress Tehrathum District Working Committee.
Subba, who is also a representative of the party's general convention, is known as a popular leader in the district, especially among the youth.
Earlier, in the 2079 BS provincial assembly election, he was defeated by Kishor Chandra Dulal, a candidate of CPN-UML. However, this time, voters have trusted him and made him victorious in the House of Representatives election.
