The Prime Minister of Bhutan, Tshering Tobgay, has congratulated Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane and senior leader Balendra Shah (Balen) for securing a majority in the House of Representatives (HoR) elections.

Bhutanese Prime Minister Tobgay also congratulated all Nepali people on the success of the elections held on March 5 through social media this morning. In this regard, he also expressed hope that the friendship between Bhutan and Nepal will deepen further.

"Congratulations to Mr Balen Shah and Mr Rabi Lamichhane on your landslide victory in Nepal’s general elections. I also congratulate the people of Nepal on the successful elections. I look forward to deepening the warm friendship between our two countries," wrote Tobgay on his X.

Earlier on Monday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had congratulated RSP Chairman Rabi and senior leader Balen over the phone for their resounding victory.

"Congratulated both leaders on their electoral victories and RSP’s resounding success in the Nepal elections. Conveyed my best wishes for their forthcoming new Government and India's commitment to work with them for mutual prosperity, progress and well-being of our two countries," Modi wrote on X, adding "I am confident that with our joint endeavors, India and Nepal relations will scale new heights in the years ahead."

In the HoR elections held on March 5, RSP won 125 seats out of 165 constituencies across the country and also secured a large number of votes under the proportional representation category.

Party chairman Rabi won the elections from Chitwan-2 and proposed Prime Ministerial candidate Balen was elected as an HoR member from Jhapa-5 by a landslide.
