The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has begun questioning of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) officials regarding allegations of match fixing.

CIB Chief AIG Uttamraj Subedi said all CAN officials have been called for interrogation.

According to Subedi, all stakeholders involved in the ongoing Nepal T20 League at the Tribhuvan University (TU) Cricket Ground are being questioned.

"We have summoned all officials, including CAN president, to cross-question them. Some of them are also players. Other officials of the league are also being interrogated. We have been collecting facts from all sides," Subedi told Nepalkhabar.

After summoned by CIB, CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand along with former captain and manager Binod Das reached the CIB office on Wednesday. They were sent home on condition of appearing before the CIB when necessary, according to CIB.

The CIB investigation comes after information about match-fixing in the Nepal T20 League surfaced in the media. Players also revealed that they had received proposal for fixing matches in the league.

CAN entrusted the management of the league to the Indian company Seven3 Sports. This Indian company is also involved in arranging sports betting in India. Some people were also arrested for betting as the league was underway in TU Cricket Ground.

Seven3 Sports is in charge of the entire management of the league, including players, contracts, and television broadcast sponsors.

CAN has courted controversy since the beginning of the league for handing over the management of the league to Seven3 Sports by skipping the process of a global tender.

Director of Seven3 Sports Jatin Ahluwalia is at large after the league ran into controversy. CAN was unaware of Ahluwalia's escape.

The Nepal T20 League is running into more controversies as the players are yet to receive their salaries.

A complaint has also been lodged with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), saying that the players for the league were brought inside the country without obtaining necessary permission.

The CIAA is also investigating the issue of players arriving sans permits. It has sought clarification from CAN in this regard.

A petition has also been filed in the Supreme Court, stating that the league was being run by skipping the necessary process. The case is under consideration in the Supreme Court.
