The Office of the President has begun preparations for Balendra Shah 'Balen', a senior leader of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), to take the oath of office as Prime Minister on March 27.
RSP, which won almost two-thirds of the seats in the House of Representatives elections held on March 5, is set to make Balen Shah the Prime Minister.
Balen will take the oath of office as the leader of the RSP's parliamentary party (PP)) on March 26. RSP has already sent a letter to the President's Office for the oath of office of the new Prime Minister on Marchb 27. It is understood that the President's Office has also begun preparations.
RSP had planned to hold the oath of office for the Prime Minister outside the President's Office, Sheetal Niwas. It is understood that the oath of office of the new Prime Minister will be held at Sheetal Niwas. President Ramchandra Paudel's legal advisor Baburam Kunwar told Nepalkhabar that preparations are being made for the oath-taking at Sheetal Niwas.
"The oath-taking ceremony will take place at the Office of the President. There is no question of the President going out to administer the oath. Some people must have made a fuss over nothing, "said Kunwar, dismissing the talk of the President traveling elsewhere to administer it.
There was a discussion within Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) about holding the oath-taking ceremony outside Sheetal Niwas as the Presidential Office, which was set on fire on September 9 last year, has not been repaired. According to an employee of the President's Office, preparations are being made for the oath-taking ceremony at Sheetal Niwas itself.
"There is enough space at the Presidential Office. A tent can be put up. There is also a spacious lawn outside. A stage can also be set up on the lawn to conduct the oath-taking ceremony,’ an employee said.
RSP General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti has also confirmed that the new Prime Minister will be sworn in at Sheetal Niwas.
