The Kathmandu District Court has granted police five days to hold former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak in custody for investigation.

A bench of Judge Ananda Prasad Shrestha of the District Court, Kathmandu, granted permission to remand former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak for five days.

The police had filed an application with the District Court on Sunday seeking an extension to hold Oli and Lekhak in custody as the investigation continues.

While the government prosecutor had demanded that they be kept in custody, the legal practitioners argued that Oli and Lekhak should be released from custody.

The police had produced former Home Minister Lekhak in court. In case of Prime Minister Oli, the doctors suggested that he could not be produced in court due to health complications.

The police had arrested Oli and Lekhak on Saturday based on the report of the Commission of Inquiry into the Gen Z Uprising.
