Lightning kills one in Makwanpur

One person has died and the other sustained injuries in Makawanpur due to lightning.

Two people were struck by lightning in Bagmati Khola in Bhaise, Bagmati Rural Municipality-1, at around 6:30 pm on Tuesday.

Of them, Ajay Pahari, a 32-year-old local who was seriously injured, died at a hospital in Hetauda around 11:25 pm while undergoing treatment.

Another injured person, Ujwal Thokar, 37, is undergoing treatment in Hetauda and his condition is moderate, according to the police.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pushkar Bogati, police spokesperson at the District Police Office, Makwanpur, both were struck by lightning while returning home after fishing.

Pahari was immediately rescued and initially taken to Sanbhi Polyclinic in Jhurjhure for initial treatment. He was then referred to Hetauda. But he could not be saved.
