This year's Secondary Education Examination (SEE) is starting from tomorrow (Thursday).
The National Examination Board (NEB) has stated that all preparations for the exam are complete. The SEE exam will start at 8 am at the same time from all examination centers across the country.
This year, 512,421 students will participate in the SEE exam, which will start from April 2 and continue till 29, informed Tukraj Adhikari, the Examination Controller for Class 10 under the National Examination Board.
According to him, of them, 441,566 are appearing for the regular examination and 70,855 are appearing for the grade increase examination. The number of female students is more among those appearing for the exam.
This year, 257,613 female students, 254,801 male students and seven others will participate in the exam. This year, 23 students are appearing for the exam from an examination center in Japan. Last year too, an examination center was set up in Japan.
Exam schedule
On the first day, April 2, the compulsory English subject exam will be conducted. The Examination Controller informed that the examinations will be conducted on April 3 for compulsory Nepali, on April 5 for compulsory mathematics, on April 6 for science and technology, on April 7 for social studies, on April 8 for all subjects of the optional first section, on April 9 for all subjects of the optional second section and on April 9, 10 and 11 for the remaining subjects of the technical stream.
The Examination Controller informed that the Board has banned mass monitoring after receiving complaints that the writing work of the examinees taking the examination was obstructed when representatives of various organizations entered the hall in the name of monitoring the examination center.
The Board has decided to conduct monitoring only in the outer area of the examination center by the authorized representative of the District Examination Coordination Committee formed under the coordination of the Chief District Officer in each district.
Arrangements have been made so that journalists can only film or take pictures of the outer scene of the examination center.
Meanwhile, security personnel will be mobilized at each examination center based on the need as decided by the District Examination Committee.
However, the board has informed that arrangements have been made for 15 police officers, one center head, one assistant center head, one inspector for every 20 examinees, one office assistant for every 100 examinees and two other employees in each center.
Answer sheet testing at the examination center
The board has decided to test the answer sheets at the examination center this year.
The board has stated that the Education Development and Coordination Unit can facilitate other arrangements only if there are no teachers at the concerned center or if it is unsafe.
According to the plan to publish the results within a month of the end of the examination, the answer sheets are going to be tested from the place where the examination was conducted.
Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel has already directed to make the SEE results public within a month. Until last year, the SEE results were made public by the second week of the Nepali month Ashad.
