Eight more Nepalis who had reached Cambodia and were working in illegal online scamming centers have been rescued.
The Nepali Embassy, Bangkok has said that eight Nepalis who had reached Cambodia through various means and were involved in illegal online scamming centers, online fraud in casinos and various other illegal activities have been repatriated.
They were rescued with the initiative of the Embassy and the support of the Cambodian government and sent to Nepal from Cambodia on Tuesday with the facilitation of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Cambodia.
They are landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport today.
Earlier, 12 Nepalis were rescued from Cambodia last Monday. They arrived in Nepal yesterday.
The embassy has said that initiatives are being taken to return other Nepalis who are stranded or in difficult situations to Nepal.
Nepali citizens have been found to be involved in illegal activities in Cambodia, including online fraud, and staying without a visa or overstaying their visa.
The embassy has also requested Nepali citizens residing illegally to contact the Nepali Embassy in Bangkok or the representatives of the Non-Resident Nepali Association in Cambodia as soon as possible to facilitate their return to Nepal.
For this, Shivaraj Parajuli (+855 12 215 578), Lal Singh Khadka (+855 93 203 666), Ramji Kumar Chhetri (+855 96 346 5788) can be contacted, the embassy said.
The passport companies of those employed in scamming centers have been confiscating them. The embassy said that many people have complained that their passports were lost during transfers from scamming centers.
In such cases, the Nepali Embassy in Bangkok has been issuing one-way travel permits free of charge to return to Nepal. The embassy said that detailed details of the process have been posted on the embassy's website.
Regarding Cambodia's efforts According to statistics, 101 Nepalis went to Cambodia on tourist visas in 2021.
Similarly, 1977 Nepalis went to Cambodia in 2022, 2940 in 2023, 6404 in 2024, and 9676 in 2025.
The embassy has also requested all concerned to go for foreign employment only after obtaining a labor permit as per the criteria set by the Nepal government and not to fall prey to someone's temptation and come for foreign employment under the pretext of visiting countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, etc. under the guise of earning a lot of money quickly.
Earlier, 20 Nepali citizens were also rescued from Cambodia on March 19, and 21 were rescued on March 13.
