Bird flu infection in poultry farms at the local levels in the district has started to escalate.

Dr Manoj Kumar Mahato, Head of the District-based Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Service Expert Center Inaruwa, confirmed the increasing spread of the virus at various poultry farms in the district, including those in the district headquarters Inaruwa.

Lately, a broiler poultry farm owned by Suman Kumar Rai of Kusumgachhi of Inaruwa Municipality-2, and a local breed poultry farm owned by Suman Gobinda Shrestha of Itahari-6 reported infections. Following the development, the efforts to contain the spread of the virus have been intensified.

A high alert has been issued around the infected farms, and other poultry farms in the district are under strict surveillance, Dr. Mahato said. Farmers have been urged to promptly report to the Center if the birds show any unusual symptoms and to isolate such poultry from external contacts.

As of now, in the district 19,365 poultry from 14 farms have been killed.
