Nepali Congress (NC) has asked 507 individuals accused of violating discipline to provide clarifications within 7 days.
The Disciplinary Commission meeting held at the central party office, Sanepa, on Wednesday decided to seek clarifications and justifications within 7 days.
Congress Disciplinary Committee Coordinator Taraman Gurung said that complaints have been filed against 507 party members who opposed the Congress candidate in the House of Representatives (HoR) election held on March 5.
He said that complaints have been filed against those who filed rebel candidacies in the election, as well as those who supported and proposed candidates. According to him, complaints have also been filed against those who campaigned against the party candidate in the election and supported the opposition by opposing the party candidate.
He further said that NC has also issued warnings to members who did not seek votes for and remained inactive during the election. Gurung said that explanations have also been sought from those who supported the opposition in the election by becoming public representatives from the Congress.
"In the case of complaints classified by the probe panel, it has been decided to seek clarification from those accused of violating discipline within seven days," he said.
He has directed that if discipline has been violated in the election, the complaint should be sent to the Central Disciplinary Committee by mid-April. "No action will be taken on complaints received after this," Gurung said.
