Nepali Congress (NC) is not going to file its candidacy for the post of Speaker, General Secretary Pradip Paudel said.
"NC is not fielding its candidacy for the post of Speaker. It, however, does not mean that we have no proposer and seconder," Paudel told Nepalkhabar, "The post of Speaker is neutral. Hence, the role should also be neutral." All the posts must be forsaken once one assumes the post of speaker."
NC won't file its candidacy believing that the role of the Speaker will remain neutral. Candidates can file nominations from 11 am to 2 pm today.
RSP has fielded Vice President Dol Prasad Aryal for the post of Speaker. The elections for the Speaker is scheduled for April 5.
Paudel also shared that NC will stake claim for the post of Deputy Speaker.
