DP Aryal, Vice President of Rastriya Swatantra PartySP), has been elected unopposed as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Aryal was elected unopposed after a single candidacy was filed for the Speaker position. The deadline for filing candidacy was set for Friday at 2 pm.
Spokesperson of the Federal Parliament Secretariat Ekram Giri said that only Aryal filed his candidacy within the stipulated time. According to Spokesperson Giri, a proposal regarding the Speaker's candidacy will be presented in the meeting of the House of Representatives to be held on April 5.
After the House of Representatives meeting approves it, Aryal will be declared as the Speaker.
Aryal had filed his candidacy on Friday afternoon. RSP President Rabi Lamichhane Proposed Aryal as the candidate for Speaker while his candidacy was seconded by MPs Swarnim Wagle, Sobita Gautam and Sunil Lamsal.
