Four parties have agreed to give the post of vice-chairperson of the National Assembly to CPN-UML.
In a meeting convent on Sunday, Nepali Congress, UML, CPN and Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal (JSP-N) agreed to nominate National Assembly member Leela Kumari Bhandari from UML for the post of Vice-Chairperson of the National Assembly.
According to the agreement among the four parties, NC will get the post of chairperson of two parliamentary committees, while CPN and JSP Nepal will each chair one committee.
The National Assembly has four committees: Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance, Legislation Management, Public Policy and Delegated Legislation, and Federalism Enablement and National Concerns Committee.
Similarly, there are two joint parliamentary committees, which also include members of the House of Representatives.
The election for the Vice-Chairperson of the National Assembly is scheduled for April 6. According to the election schedule, candidacy for this post has to be filed today itself.
Narayan Prasad Dahal from CPN is the incumbent chairman of the Natinal Assembly.
