The government has increased the fares of public vehicles with the soar in the fuel prices.

The Department of Transport Management has increased the fares following a ministerial decision taken by Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Sunil Lamsal.

Ganeshman Rai, the information officer of the department, informed Nepalkhabar that the fares have been adjusted according to a scientific system.

Recently, due to the sharp increase in the price of crude oil, fuel prices have also skyrocketed in Nepal apparently due to the Iran-US-Israel war. Along with this, transport entrepreneurs have been demanding an increase in fares.

According to the department, bus fares have increased by 16.71 percent and that of freight transport have increased by 15.75 percent in the Terai and 21.68 percent in the hills.
