Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli is undergoing a gallbladder surgery today (Monday).
Oli, who is undergoing treatment at the TU Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, has been taken to the operation theater.
“It has been about half an hour since he was taken to the operation theater,” hospital information officer Kali Prasad Rosyara told Nepalkhabar.
A team led by Dr Paleswan Joshi Lakhe will perform surgery to remove his gallbladder stone.
Oli is diagnosed to have a 22-mm stone in his gallbladder. Oli’s health, however, is normal, according to doctors at the hospital.
Former Prime Minister Oli has been at the TU Teaching Hospital since April 3 after being arrested by the police on charges of killing people during the Gen Z movement on September 8-9 last year.
Although he was released from police custody on personal recognizance on April 9, he remained in the hospital for the surgery.
