Tehrathum Sarokar Samaj, a non-partisan social organization, organized a special event to exchange greetings, felicitate distinguished personalities, and hold an interaction on the upcoming budget and development priorities for the Tehrathum district.
The event brought together newly elected representatives, subject experts, and intellectuals to discuss a unified vision for the district’s future following the March 5 elections.
Addressing the gathering, the newly elected Member of the House of Representatives (HoR) from Tehrathum, Santosh Subba, expressed a deep sense of responsibility toward his constituency. Despite being elected on a Nepali Congress ticket, the lawmaker pledged to work impartially for all citizens irrespective of their political affiliation.
"For the next five years, I will devote myself to the entire development of the district, prioritizing the concerns of the people without discrimination," he stated. He emphasized that his focus would remain on physical infrastructure, agriculture, health, and education.
Now a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Cooperative, and Natural Resources, the lawmaker noted that this role aligns perfectly with his goal of uplifting the financial condition of Tehrathum through policy-level interventions.

Experts highlight agriculture and tourism
The interaction featured significant contributions from experts and advisors who identified key sectors for economic growth. The Chief Advisor of the Samaj, Mohan Dangi, highlighted hydropower as a primary engine for uplifting the financial status of the Nepali people.
Similarly, the Senior Advisor of Tehrathum Sarokar Samaj, Bijaya Sambahamphe, urged representatives to focus on agro-tourism as a "bright future" for the district’s youth and economy.
Professor Dr Balkrishna Mabuhang called for urgent agricultural reform, noting that three out of five Nepali citizens (62%) in Nepal depend on the sector.
"The state should bring farmer-friendly policies to ensure profits on investment," Dr Mabuhang argued. He suggested that temporary bans on agricultural imports from neighboring countries could protect local farmers, eventually replenishing the state coffers despite short-term price increases for consumers.

Leaders vow their support
The program also saw participation from Urmila KC, Minister for Youth and Sports of Bagmati Province and Bishnu Maya BK, a Member of the House of Representatives under the proportional representation (PR) electoral system. Both leaders vowed to "leave no stone unturned" in supporting the holistic development of Tehrathum and ensuring that the district's needs are reflected in upcoming budgetary allocations.
The program, held on Saturday at Surya Events in Dhumbarahi, was presided over by the Samaj Chairman, Dilli Ram Dhungel. Assistant General Secretary Birendra Kurumbang moderated the event, which was coordinated by Haripati Lal Shrestha, the Senior Vice Chairman of the Samaj.
