Landless squatters living on the banks of the Bagmati River at Thapathali are protesting after the government asked them to leave the settlement.

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Thursday had asked them to remove their belongings and take the elderly, children, and others to a safe place through a loudspeaker.

The squatters were seen protesting after it was announced that the settlement would be demolished on Saturday.

They have demonstrated against the government decision with banners and placards. They have also demanded that housing arrangements be made.
