Kavre police have arrested five drivers who risked the lives of passengers by forcibly driving their vehicles into the flooded Roshi River.
Police have said that 89 passengers who were trapped in the river along with the vehicles were rescued safely on Monday midnight.
Five microbuses were trapped in the Roshi River in Charsay Beshi, Roshi Rural Municipality-7, when the flow of the Roshi River increased due to the rains since Tuesday evening.

A joint team of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force was deployed to rescue 89 passengers of five microbuses coming to Kathmandu from the east after they got stuck in the river.
With the joint efforts of the security agencies, all the passengers were successfully rescued at around 1 am on Wednesday (today) and sent to their destinations safely, informed Rabin Bista, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office, Kavre.
During the rescue operation, Nepal Police and Traffic Police had instructed to stop vehicles keeping in mind the potential risks.

However, Bista said that all five microbus drivers have been taken into custody for disobeying the instructions and endangering the lives and property of passengers by driving recklessly.
The drivers who were taken into custody have been taken into custody at the District Police Office, Kavre, and further investigation is underway.
