Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa and leader Dr Shekhar Koirala have held a meeting today.
This is the first meeting between Thapa and Koirala since the Supreme Court resolved the dispute over the legitimacy of Nepali Congress on April 17.
President Thapa had reached Koirala's liaison office in Bishalnagar on Tuesday. It is learnt that the two had an hour-long discussion on maintaining party unity.
Congress leaders and cadres have been divided since the special general convention held on January 11-14. President Thapa has said that he has initiated the dialogue to bring leaders who opposed the special general convention into confidence.
After the meeting with Koirala, President Thapa is scheduled to meet with outgoing acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka today.
Having been notified of the meeting, Khadka has called his key supporters to his residence for a preliminary discussion, a leader close to Khadka said.
