Nepali Congress MP Nishcal Rai has accused Prime Minister Balendra Shah of undermining the dignity of the Federal Parliament.

Speaking at the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting held today, Rai, who is also the NC whip, expressed dissatisfaction over the Prime Minister's absence from the House.

He also urged the Speaker to rule for the Prime Minister to be present in Parliament.

"The Prime Minister has not been present in Parliament today either," Rai said, "Questions have also been raised in Parliament regarding his health condition. The dignity of the House does not increase if the Prime Minister is not present in Parliament."

He also questioned whether Prime Minister Balen is above the Parliament, dubbing his action as unconstitutional and apolitical.

The Prime Minister's failure to participate in the meeting where the policy and program are being discussed is a serious matter.

Although the Parliament Secretariat had informed that the Prime Minister would answer the questions of the MPs on the policy and program in today's Parliament meeting, Balen abstained from it.

After the Prime Minister did not attend the HoR meeting, the agenda has been amended to allow Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle to answer questions to be raised by lawmakers.
