Nepal elected WHO Vice President

Nepal has been elected as the Vice-President of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Nepal has been unanimously elected as the Vice-President through the 79th World Health Assembly of the WHO held in Geneva, Switzerland. The election was held during the inaugural session of the Assembly held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on Monday.

Health Minister Nisha Mehata is scheduled to deliver a statement on behalf of Nepal today under the same session of the General Assembly. A nine-member Nepali delegation led by Health Minister Mehta is participating in the General Assembly.

The General Assembly, which began on May 17, will continue till May 24.

A Nepali delegation led by Minister Mehata had left here for Geneva on Sunday to participate in the global health gathering.
