CPN-UML has initiated the process to construct its new central office building on its own land at Madannagar in Balkhu. This development follows a recent Supreme Court verdict, which legally paved the way for the party to rebuild a modern facility at its original location.
With the Balkhu project now confirmed, CPN-UML is set to back away from its controversial plan to build an office in Kirtipur on land donated by Min Bahadur Gurung, the owner of Bhatbhateni Supermarket. The party had faced severe public and internal criticism after accepting the controversial land donation.
Leaders stated that the map and design for the new building are currently underway on the 13-ropani plot in Balkhu. The original office, built in 1993 (2050 BS), was destroyed by the devastating earthquake on April 25, 2015.
Since then, the party has been operating from rented properties for the past 11 years, despite multiple legal hurdles in its previous attempts to rebuild on its own land.
