Air India flight AI2802 with 160 passengers onboard has made an emergency landing in New Delhi after its engine caught fire.

An engine of the Air India flight AI2802 caught fire mid-air while it was flying to Delhi from Bengaluru, India on Thursday evening.

However, the plane with 160 passengers onboard managed to make a safe landing at Delhi airport.

Air India issued a statement saying, “During the aircraft’s final approach into Delhi, the cockpit crew received a fire indication from one of the engines. The indication was subsequently confirmed as true. The crew followed all standard operating procedures and landed the aircraft safely at Delhi airport. All passengers and crew are safe and have disembarked normally."

Air India has launched a full investigation into the incident alongside regulatory authorities and will share updates as soon as they become available. "We are committed to sharing further verified information as soon as it becomes available," the statement further said.
